how to create my own halloween costume (part 3)

“Buying your costume is one thing, but actually making it from scratch and having it look pretty good — that’s pretty kick ass!”

Kung Fu Panda and the Joker

How I did it:
Basically you have to have an idea from the start from where you can make your plan to create your costume. I came up with Kung Fu Panda.
Basic Tips on Creating a Halloween Costume:
  1. Find a photo of what you’re trying to emulate.
  2. Brainstorm ways you can use regular things to create the costume.
  3. Go to the appropriate stores that are awesome for costume creation (i.e. Goodwill, JoAnn, etc.)
  4. Learn how to sew or have a really good friend who who knows how to do that.
  5. Construct the costume and bask in your glory.

Creating the Kung Fu Panda Costume:

  1. Visited the Goodwill and bought, sweaters (black and white), khaki shorts, and black gloves.
  2. Visited the JoAnn and bought red and yellow belts, glue gun, and black felt.
  3. Visited the local Halloween shop and bought makeup (black and white) and nunchucks.
  4. Visited my friend, Cheetos, to help with my sewing needs.
  5. I cut the top half of the black sweater and the bottom have of the white hoodie. Also cut off the actual white hoodie.
  6. Cheetos sewed the bottom bottom white sweater to the top black sweater to the white hoodie.
  7. Cheetos also created panda ears by sewing felt over pieces of cardboard and sewing the creations to the white hoodie.
  8. Super glued the red and yellow belts together they alternated.
  9. Put the make up on and wore the clothing and I was good to go!

Lessons & tips:
Always prepare before you start buying and think cheap. If you do a bit of preparation, it’ll definitely save you a lot of money and time in the long run. Also, always have a vision and never try to veer away from that.

With a little effort, and some time — anyone can make a pretty sweet
costume and for pretty cheap too. My costume was under $30.

Resources:
There are a ton of great resources out there from regular thrift shops to craft stores. Here are some of the resources I used during this process:

SEATTLE, WA (AP) – Thanksgiving Day, November 27th 2008 will host one of best match ups ever of non-professional Football league history. “I can’t wait for this day.” Someone stated when asked about the announced game for Turkey Bowl®. This excitement for the game is due to the fact that both teams have superior passing offenses (because the lack of any running game) averaging a touchdown on every possession. One can only imagine an action packed game full of unconventional style plays.

Erik Krieg

Erik Krieg

The hosting field will be Georgetown Playfield in Seattle WA, the artificial field turf is a sign of relief for players that played in horrible field conditions in the past. Before the teams would not only have to dodge would be tacklers but also goose poop, potholes and small children that wander onto the field.

But don’t sell the defense short (literally) with an average height of only 5″5 they have ran back interceptions for TD like they were playing for the other team.

Jun Delovino

Jun Delovino

Skeptics are still concerned of the possibly of Erik Krieg performing for the game. The uncertainty of his throwing arm has been question when Krieg was involved in a pedal bike accident which broke his elbow. When Krieg was asked about the incident he made no comment. But with this teams powerhouse of receivers any “Joe the Plumber” can walk onto the field and throw for TD’s.

So who are the players to look out for, well high production numbers has always been consistent with Jun Delovino. One of the quickest receivers that can dance circles against anyone that defends him. “He literally broke my ankles.” Stated by unknown defensive player. Delovino is also one of the teams leading interception magicians.

Sunga Brothers

Sunga Brothers

On the defensive side I would have to look out for Jonathan Sunga. Sunga with quick hands and good defensive awareness is the league’s leading tackle. He can strip the flag off 40 yards back before the receiver even notices it. If combined with the other Sunga player defensive tackle Joseph Sunga “pancake master” you ain’t getting much yards.

Will the return of Vernon Sackie bring his team to another victory? Sackie one of the strongest arms out in the league can throw bombs down field like he was a terrorist. But don’t think he plants his feet, he’s a mover and a shaker that can cause defenses to crumble with this quickness.

Sam Villenueva

But what about Jonathan Asence? What can he bring to the field this year? From what sources has gathered Asence has been working on his game during the off season. When asked about his return he states “Im ready coach, Pootball is my life. ” Rumors states that he might be using performance enhancement drugs to step up his game but those sources are unconfirmed. Also Samuel Villanueva has been accused of using performance enhancing drugs. This is also an unconfirmed source. Witnesses have stated that Villanueva has gotten freakishly bigger in a short amount of time.

Ferdie Espina

Ferdie Espina

The possibility of Ferdie Espina is also on the table. Espina has ran more yards than thrown the football as starting QB. Will his addition change the game play of the high passing offenses? Unfortunately his football performance is over shadowed by his on the field conduct. Coaches states “He needs to watch his conduct on the field, if he keeps that up he will be punished.” Espina has been charged by league multiple times for un-sportsman like conduct.

Conor Bemis

Conor Bemis

Lastly the rookie, Conor Bemis has been mentioned to partake on Turkey Bowl. Analyst states that Bemis is a solid all around player with height advantage over 80% of the players in the NPFL®.

When mentioning rookies you can’t forget the veterans like Mark Bryant. With an amazing NPFL® career like Bryant you can expect nothing less than an amazing game.  With diving catches and blazing speeds his performance will go down in history like the 2008 presidential race.

**UPDATE (1:38PM)

SEATTLE WA (AP) UPDATE – Controversy over the alleged drug use of Villanueva has sparked a press conference. When asked about PEHD he commented “I don’t use performance enhancing drugs, BELIVE IT OR DON’T!”

Also the possibility of a back up field has been discussed, sources states that Van Asselt or Maple wood would host the Turkey Bowl if needed. The NPFL commissioners are currently discussing the options if Georgetown is unavailable. It will be a game day decision.

introducing alphabeats!

Recently, I’ve been all about the dance parties — so let me introduce to the Danish pop band, Alphabeats. Go check out this happy pop music from on MySpace. The only thing that bothers me is that one of their songs seems very similar to an old classic cartoon introduction. Compare the two videos below and judge for yourself:
