TeachStreet Q&A helped me pick my gym

I mentioned this past weekend that my New Year starts on February 1, 2010. January has been a jam packed month of craziness, now I’m able to settle down and unwind. The first step for me now was to pick a gym and I used TeachStreet Q&A (just launched a couple weeks ago in beta) to help me with my decision.

As a student, you might be interested in taking yoga lessons — but you don’t know what type of yoga you’d want to enroll in (bikram, vinyasa, etc.). Instead of just asking one yoga teacher for advice, asking a question notifies our yoga teachers, opted in to the program, to answer. This allows you to get different opinions from real experts in the subject area, which is great!

A week ago, I was looking for a gym and I had specific requirements, so I asked:

Question: What should I be looking for when evaluating a new gym?

I got several different answers in a day before I closed the question. One of the teachers actually recommended the gym I joined, Rain Fitness. These were experts in “Exercise & Fitness” and all of their suggestions were helpful in making my decision.

So, if you have any questions about subjects you’re interested in learning, ask a question and get some free advice before jumping straight in. It definitely helps.

introducing gpoyw #002!
so went to this site called kashless the other day since i love checking out new startups in the area. kind of a cool site the has the feel of a secure craigslist for free stuff. wanted to get a ping pong table or foosball table for the office and messaged a whole bunch of people with no responses.

the only response i got was for a chinese version of kings of leon’s “aha shake heartbreak” cd. found out it was a kashless employee, so i briefly saw their office — could have been cool to tour the office, but they seemed busy. i love the cd though!

introducing breathless!
watched a gut wrenching movie last night, thanks to ms. kathy saelee. went with the bro and found out there were some friends i knew watching it too. breathless in its north american debut floored the crowd with some cringing scenes of violence with a good mix of humor and a lot of sadness.

this was a hard movie to watch, but you always saw yourself coming back and rooting for song-hoon played by screenwriter, producer, director and lead actor — yang ik-june. he really made this charactor shine as a restless gangster finding his way through the chaotic life he leads.

the fun part was that yang ik-june and lead actress kim kkobbi were both there. it was interesting to see what yang’s mindset was, and the desire he had to shed this movie from his life. he wanted to leave it behind, but what he captured during that time is definitely worth talking about.

i got their autographs too (above) and a photo that turned out too blurry to see. :(
